A fuse is an electrical device that breaks a circuit by melting its fusible element when the current exceeds a specified value, due to the heat generated by the fuse itself. Fuses are current protection devices based on the principle that after a current exceeds a specified value for a certain period, the heat generated by the fuse itself melts the fusible element, thus breaking the circuit. Fuses can be divided into electronic fuses and power fuses. Fast-acting fuses are mainly used for short-circuit protection of semiconductor rectifier components, characterized by fast melting speed and strong breaking capacity.
Fuses are widely used in high and low voltage power distribution systems, control systems, and electrical equipment as short-circuit and overcurrent protectors. They are specifically used in laptops, smart wearables, drones, and other products, and are also finding applications in emerging scenarios such as AI servers, photovoltaics, energy storage, charging piles, and industrial control.
